Talk on opportunities for graduates in the pharmaceutical industry

Preparing students for the real world has always been Quest International University Perak (QIU)’s focus as we want our graduates to be contributors from the first day they are employed.


Therefore, the university constantly brings in experts in the various fields to give talks and keep students abreast of what’s happening in the industry. Recently, pharmacy undergraduates had the pleasure to listen to a very senior pharmacist, Mr. Keh Song Hock who spoke on the topic “From Local to Global – The Pharma Industry Needs You”.


A Pharmacy graduate from the University of Singapore, Mr Keh served 30 years in the Malaysian public sector, including 27 years with the Ministry of Health (MoH) and three years on secondment with the National Scientific Council for Research & Development, under what was previously known as the Ministry of Science, Technology & Environment.


During his time at the MoH, he held several posts in medical facilities nationwide, including the Chief Pharmacist of Hospital Kota Bharu, the State Pharmacist of Negeri Sembilan, and as the Pharmacist in Government Medical Stores, Hospital Kuala Lumpur. He retired as the Deputy Director of Pharmaceutical Services, Ministry of Health Malaysia in 2001.


Mr Keh is the current executive director of the Malaysian Organisation of Pharmaceutical Industries (MOPI) and was formerly the Executive Director of the Pharmaceutical Association of Malaysia (PhAMA) from 2001 to 2012, before becoming its advisor in 2013.


It was a very informative talk for the undergraduates as it focused on the local pharmaceutical manufacturing industry and the job opportunities for pharmacy graduates also It was a very engaging session as students interacted with the speaker and gained valuable knowledge about job opportunities in the local pharmaceutical industries.
