QIU made its mark on the global World Cleanup Day initiative, as around 120 staff joined forces to spruce up Ipoh’s iconic Gunung Lang recreation park last weekend.
Armed with leafblowers, rakes, and a passion to help the environment, staff from all of our divisions and departments turned up for the five-hour cleanup.
After a short ferry ride across the idyllic Gunung Lang lake, the teams swooped into action by collecting rubbish, raking leaves, and cleaning up amenities like benches and traditional huts.
The activity was part of the University’s Staff Social Responsibility (SSR) programmes, where QIU staff play their part in helping the growth and wellbeing of the local community.
This has also previously included several cleanup activities and volunteering sessions in welfare homes.
Besides helping our fellow man, these programmes also bring our QIU family closer as we strengthen our bonds by working together.
Stay tuned for more SSR initiatives, as the University continues its outreach initiatives in the local community and beyond.
