QIUP is fast growing to live up to its name of being a truly International University with students from more than 24 countries studying at the University. In our continuous efforts to celebrate QIUP international students’ days, we spent a fun-filled afternoon celebrating Uzbekistan Day with the increasing number of international student population who chose this university to obtain their tertiary education. Other than mingling with the rest of the QIUP family, they also shared their beautiful culture with us.
The event started with the playing of the national anthem of Uzbekistan which was followed by a video presentation of the country. Anvarova Umida pursuing the Bachelor of Accountancy (Hons) and Karatsuba Yana pursuing the Bachelor of Business Administration, both from Uzbekistan, then entertained the crowd with a popular Uzbekistan song. The crowd joined in singing a birthday song for Karatsuba Yana who was celebrating her birthday.
Since food has attained the status of a cultural expression that speaks the similarities among us, members of the staff and students of QIUP experienced an exciting lunch break, indulging in both the food and culture of Uzbekistan through treats to exotic tastes and aromas of local dishes from Uzbekistan while enjoying showcases of short clippings, music videos that depicted the best of the country!
All and all, it was a lovely occasion and we had tons of FUN!
