Exciting, entertaining and momentous – these were the words that best described the ‘FIS Got Talent’ that was held last weekend.

Organised by our dedicated team of Foundation in Science Programme lecturers, the show, themed “It’s Showtime” drummed up excitement among our student body as we discovered how talented they really are.

Gracing the event was QIU Chief Operating Officer Nicholas Goh and the Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology Prof Dr Vilasini Pillai, who both shared words of encouragement to the participants.

Before the talent show began, 24 of our brightest academic stars took their turn in the limelight during the Dean’s List Award prizegiving ceremony – which honoured the students’ excellent academic performances.

At this point, the buzz had built up and it was time for the talents to take the stage. And the six participating teams certainly did not disappoint.

The show kicked off with a dramatic choral speaking performance by the Cardiac Kids, which was followed by a soothing instrumental performance by the Mysteries Melody group.

Two dance crews, the Space Squad and Climate Crew turned up the heat with their routines before the T-Team performed a stunning fashion show. Mariya Al Mallah then took the stage with an enlightening talk, before LeucisticX closed the show with a live exotic animal display.

Our panel of judges tasked with the near-impossible job of finding the winners were lecturers Muhammad Amin Md Sani from the Faculty of Social Sciences, Dr Fong Si Yuen from the Faculty of Science and Technology and Padmashantini Padmanathan from the Faculty of Business and Management.

After sharing their feedback, the judges announced the winners and in the end, it was the Cardiac Kids who came away with the top prize. T-Team and the Mysteries Melody finished second and third respectively, wrapping up what was a fantastic day.

To sum up, it was definitely a fun-filled event as our students got to express themselves creatively and work together as a team. Congratulations to all the winners, participants and organisers who made the event a resounding success!
