It was indeed a proud day for our shining academic stars and their lecturers as they gathered for the Dean’s Award Ceremony. This annual event celebrates the highest achieving students across all faculties – they are students who have achieved a GPA of 3.75 and above in their semester examinations for the past year.
The event proved to be one of the best so far as almost 15% of the student population made it to the Dean’s list – a testament to the efforts of QIU’s highly skilled and enthusiastic academics.
In his opening address, Chief Operating Officer, Mr Nicholas Goh told students that they should be extremely proud of their achievement, and thanked the academic staff who played a big role in guiding the students.
“Today, I not only stand here as the COO but also as a proud parent because my daughter is one of the recipients. It would not be complete if I do not convey my highest appreciation to the dedication of the academic staff who have guided the students to attain this excellent scholastic achievement.
“You should be very proud of your achievement as you are the cream of the crop of QIU. I hope that you will remember this occasion fondly for the rest of your lives and upkeep the good name of the university and be a proud alumni in the future,” stressed Mr. Nicholas.
Vice Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Dr Raman Narayanasamy echoed the sentiments of Mr Nicholas and reminded students to constantly upkeep the good name of the university.
“I am sure you have worked very hard over the past one year and today you reap the benefits by being celebrated. What you have studied and achieved academically will help you when you enter the working world in the future.
“I also want to remind you to live by the principles of integrity and honesty as these traits will ensure you go far in life,” said Dato’ Raman.
Congratulations to all the students who received an award at the ceremony and all of us at QIU are extremely proud of you. Keep up the good work.
