LOCAL SCHOOL CLEANING
The “Local School Cleaning” project carried out by MBBS Batch 7 Quest International University (QIU) students as one of their projects for Community Service subjects. This project was held at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Dato Haji Mohd Taib, Chemor, Perak. Providing a clean and conducive environment for the students in the upcoming years will facilitate students to achieve their potential in both academic and co-curricular activities
Charity work project for Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Tamil (SJKT) Taman Desa Pinji
Students taking the Community Service Subject organized a charity work project for Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Tamil (SJKT) Taman Desa Pinji, Lahat, Perak. The objective of this charity work project was to set up a platform for students to learn important life lessons by engaging in charitable activities and gain field exposure to Community Service Responsibility that will benefit them in their future careers. Quest International University (QIU) students were engaged in a drive for charity which culminated in the donation of new furniture for the school library.
To create awareness among students and the public about the importance of giving back to society, Quest International University (QIU) lecturers organized a project to help young children. This charity work project was held at Pertubuhan Pengurusan Pusat Jagaan 1 Malaysia. This exciting project was conducted to not only enhance the skills and talents of participants in various aspects but also to help them realize that a student’s life is not merely about studying, but also giving service to the community or society to achieve success in life.
Students also conducted a charity project for special needs children at Yayasan Sultan Azlan Shah, Bercham, Perak. Through this meaningful project, students will better understand children with special needs, while also enhance their communicative and creative abilities.
GREEN THE EARTH PROJECT
GREEN THE EARTH PROJECT was held on 23rd September 2019 & 6th October 2019. Advocating for sustainable development is a major agenda for Quest International University Perak (QIU) and the university recently embarked on a mission to plant 1 million trees in the state of Perak. This project will be conducted in phases working with interested parties such as Projek Pengurusan Bersepadu Lembangan Hulu Kinta, with the support of Jabatan Pengairan dan Saliran Negeri Perak, Majlis Bandaraya Ipoh and Jabatan Perpaduan Negeri dan Integrasi Nasional Negeri Perak.
Headed by the General Studies Unit of the Faculty of Social Sciences, QIU has already completed 2 phases of tree planting.
In phase one held at Sungai Sayong, Kuala Kangsar, a total of 40 students and 3 lecturers with the support and cooperation of Pejabat Perhutanan Kuala Kangsar planted 250 trees while phase 2 saw students and lecturers planting trees along Sungai Kinta river bank in Lahat.
This project is in line with the university’s support and contribution to the sustainable development goals as promoted in the UN Charter. Besides creating a greener planet for our future generations, the university firmly believes that planting trees will raise the awareness of students and the community on the importance of environmental protection and conservation.
Students participated in the Recycling Program with Taman Tasek Jaya Rukun Tetangga on 15th February 2020 to create awareness of recycling among the students and our local community; educate students and community on the importance of separating different waste sources; and also to ensure our local community area is clean and safe.
A total of 22 students and 4 lecturers cleaned the drain and field before embarking on a mural painting activity at Taman Tasek Jaya Rukun Tetangga area, with the collaboration of the Global Environment Centre, Majlis Perbandaran Ipoh and Jawatan Kuasa Kemajuan dan Keselamatan Taman Tasek Jaya.
