DIPLOMA IN MECHATRONICS ENGINEERING

JPT/BPP(MQA/PA6183)10/20

Mechatronics is a multidisciplinary field of engineering that integrates mechanics, electronics, computer science and control theory. This programme is designed to expose students to the principles and practice of mechatronics. The syllabus focuses mainly on the delivery of principles and practices that integrates disciplines in mechanical and electronic engineering, as well as computing. Students will also acquire work skills and develop a broad understanding and knowledge of the engineering industry. Compulsory industrial training is incorporated into the syllabus to make the graduates industry-ready upon completion of their diploma programme. Upon completion of the programme, graduates can work as technicians, assistant engineers, research and development assistants, technical representatives and production technicians in the field of manufacturing, process & control industry and robotics industry.

Programme Aims

The programme aims to prepare graduates who possess a command of mechatronic knowledge and hands-on skills required to undertake supervision of a team and troubleshooting in both operation and maintenance within the industrial context.

PROGRAMME EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES (PEO)
PEO1 Graduates who are employed as technicians in Mechatronics Engineering or related fields
PEO2 Graduates who are pursuing undergraduate education or higher education
PEO3 Graduates who are registered with engineering technician professional bodies. A percentage of graduates who are involved in community related activities
PROGRAMME LEARNING OUTCOMES (PLOs) To be achieved at the end of graduation
PLO 1 Knowledge Apply knowledge of applied mathematics, applied science, engineering fundamentals and an engineering specialization as specified in DK1 to DK4 respectively to wide practical procedures and practices;
PLO 2 Problem Analysis Identify and analyze well-defined engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using codified methods of analysis specific to their field of activity (DK1 to DK4);
