QIU’s Bachelor of Pharmacy (Hons) degree is the most extensive and holistic programme of its kind in Malaysia. We offer a balanced blend of classroom-based learning and hands-on education in the three main tenets of pharmacy practice – clinical pharmacy, industrial pharmacy and community pharmacy.
The programme has been FULLY ACCREDITED FOR MAXIMUM PERIOD WITH EXCELLENT STATUS by the Pharmacy Board of Malaysia and the Malaysian Qualifications Agency. The accreditation saw QIU excel in 10 areas of good practice, achieving an official status of ‘Excellent’ in the process. The ‘Excellent’ status indicates that the programme scored more than 90 percent in the evaluation of its good practices in quality development standards.

TALKS BY INDUSTRY EXPERTS
Regular talks by industry experts provide students with a window into the latest developments in the world of pharmaceutical practice. Recent speakers include Mr. Keh Song Hock who spoke on the topic “From Local to Global – The Pharma Industry Needs You”. A Pharmacy graduate from the University of Singapore, Mr Keh served 30 years in the Malaysian public sector, including 27 years with the Ministry of Health (MoH) and three years on secondment with the National Scientific Council for Research & Development, under what was previously known as the Ministry of Science, Technology & Environment. Another prominent speaker was Universiti Sains Malaysia Honorary Professor and Hovid Berhad’s Executive Director Professor Dr Yuen Kah Hay who spoke on the ‘Evolution of Personalised Medicine’.

HEALTH CAMPAIGN EDUCATES PUBLIC ON DEALING WITH DIABETES
In 2019, Quest Pharmacy Students Society (QPSS) of Quest International University Perak (QIU) organised a day long Public Health Campaign at the Ipoh Parade mall.
The campaign, themed “Diabetes: The Bittersweet Life” was aimed at creating awareness about the dangers of Diabetes and the importance of early intervention to prevent this disease, which is a major concern as around 3.6 million Malaysians suffer from diabetes


HEALTH CAMPAIGN ON MAXIMISING EFFECTS OF MEDICINE
A year earlier, the QPSS organised a day-long awareness campaign to educate the public on the proper use of medication. The campaign included several community engagement activities, including:
- Free health screening tests (BMI, Smokerlyzer Test, Blood Pressure Test, Cholesterol Test and Glucose Test),
- Kids’ activities
- Medication review and consultations
- Blood donation campaign


CERTIFICATE COURSE ATTRACTS PHARMACIES, UNIVERSITIES
The Faculty of Pharmacy, in collaboration with Gaia Science and a team of pharmaceutical experts, conducted a certificate course on Natural Products Extraction, Emulsion and Cosmetic Formulations at Penang’s Malaysian Insititute of Pharmaceuticals and Nutraceuticals. The course covered new information and insight into product performance. It also delved into the cosmetic product development process, pharmaceutical formulations, microwave-assisted extraction and chemical synthesis.
More than 40 participants from various institutions and organisations took part, including representatives from Thailand’s Prince of Songkla University, Universiti Brunei Darussalam, Universiti Sains Malaysia, Universiti Putra Malaysia, Marina Pharmacy, Georgetown Pharmacy, Unison Nutraceuticals, Bionutricia Manufacturing, Nature Herb Creation and Luminous Skincare.

FULLY ACCREDITED PROGRAMME
The Bachelor of Pharmacy programme at Quest International University Perak (QIU) has been fully accredited for the maximum five-year period by the Pharmacy Board of Malaysia and the Malaysian Qualifications Agency, achieving an official status of ‘Excellent’ in the process. The Excellent status indicates that the programme scored more than 90 percent in the evaluation of its good practices in quality development standards. The accreditation saw QIU excel in 10 areas of good practice, including Vision, mission and goals; Curriculum design and delivery; Educational programme; Student selection and student support services; Teaching and academic staff; Educational resources; Programme monitoring and review; Leadership; Governance and administration; Total continuous quality improvement; and Self-critique and outcome measures.
