Learning through a steady stream of real-world projects is how we believe students learn best
Students from the Faculty of Business & Management and Faculty of Social Sciences joined forces in an inter-faculty initiative to develop and pitch a brand-building proposal for 18CTea – Perak’s first bubble tea outlet with a fully-vegetarian food menu. 18CTea chose their favourite from three different concepts – and the initiative allowed students to get first-hand experience of formulating a brand-building proposal and pitching it to a real-world client.
Part of the coursework assessment for the course BMK3205 Marketing Communications was to plan and organise the 1st Conference on Digital Marketing and Entrepreneurship. Students conceptualised the pre-event engagement, coordinated the actual event and provided a report on what they learnt
Students are brought on visits to professional industries and institutions like the Industrial Court to reinforce experiential and contextual learning. This is done to help them meld their classroom lessons and the education they get from speaking to people on the ground and first-hand experience.
Through social responsibility, whether in-house or community-based, is essential to building character and civic-mindedness
World Clean up Day
More than 500 volunteers, made up of the public and QIU staff and students gave up their Saturday morning to participate in the World Clean Up Day, Ipoh Chapter event which was spearheaded by the University. The clean up activity was centred around cleaning the riverbank of Kinta river starting at Home of Silveryouth (HOS) and moving out in a 1km radius from the starting point. Yang Berhormat Dr. Abdul Aziz bin Bari, Perak State Exco member for Education, Environment, Green Technology & Information and Yang Berhormat Tuan Tan Kar Hing, Perak State Exco member for Tourism, Culture and Arts, also graced the event.
Learning comes from the deeply immersive experience our programmes offer through a variety of learning activities.
The Let’s Chat! series features industry experts, experienced professionals and renowned individuals. It is envisioned to cover a wide range of business and management-related topics as well as broader issues such as politics, economy, culture and education. In so doing, the Let’s Chat! series:
- exposes students to diverse ideas, professions and fields;
- equips students with current trends and news; and
- inculcates in students a strong knowledge-seeking culture.
