The Foundation in Business (F.I.B) is specially designed to provide a well-rounded education for aspiring candidates. The objective is to produce students with a general understanding of business organisations, and how development of strategies and structures must consider factors such as work processes, the environments, and markets, to ensure organisational success.

Our programme provides a sound basis for progression to the undergraduate programmes. It ensures that students possess the necessary knowledge, values, skills and competencies to specifically undertake one of QIUP’s business-related programmes such as the Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelor of Finance, and Bachelor of Accountancy, or other programmes related to computer science and information technology, hospitality and culinary arts, and actuarial science.

The programme places great emphasis on encouraging students to reflect on their learning and to be increasingly self-motivated and self-critical. Students will find assignments and examinations becoming progressively more challenging and demanding as they progress through the programme. In the final Semester, students can opt for specialised courses that would allow for a smooth transition towards a particular degree programme that they wish to pursue.

The effectiveness in the delivery of the programme is assured through the adoption of various approaches to learning including lectures, tutorials, and practical exposure in computer labs. To ensure that our students are well grounded, course assessment is based on a combination of in-class examinations and coursework assignments that involve individual or group-based hands-on projects and presentations.
